Earlier this week we installed a wireless alarm and two cameras in a four-storey Central London property. The property had a concrete structure which meant the occupants could not get wifi signal unless they were in the living room where the router was.

Before installing the security system we set-up a new router and a WAP (wireless access point). The wireless access point was put on the second floor using POE (power over ethernet) and a cable run from the floor below to the router.

After the installation the occupants have gone from having next to wifi connection in their bedroom to having a very healthy signal strength as well as download/upload speeds on their floor and even in the children’s bedrooms on the floor above.

It just goes to show what a little extra technical knowledge can do for a client as opposed to the average alarm installer.
